Portfolio

Hi! This is Eugene Sia. This is a partial portfolio of my work. More info will be added soon!

London Film School London Film School – website, course registration and alumni networking system, receiving thousands of hits every day from the UK and internationally. Done in Drupal 7 and PHP, from Dec 2012 to May 2013.

As the lead developer, client and project manager, I developed a responsive theme, custom modules, and enabled video streaming across multiple platforms. Due to changing client demands, we had to rapidly prototype and modify designs in an iterative, Agile fashion. Extensive testing was required due to the usage of multiple custom video players. Bugs in Drupal modules were fixed or worked around, and fixes contributed back to the community.

This website also uses Zen Grids, Sass, HTML5 and CSS3.

4Legged website> 4legged.com – a community site for dog lovers in the UK. My role was that of a lead developer, technical consultant and project manager, taking over a previously-abandoned and technically-difficult project, which I salvaged and brought to a successful and profitable conclusion. Done from Nov 2012 to Feb 2013.

This website made extensive use of social media authentication (e.g. Facebook login using Oauth2) integrated with Drupal’s user and permissions system. It also used custom modules to implement multi-step registration forms, using the CTools API, PHP sessions/cookie management and the jQuery API.

I had to refactor and bug-fix code from previous developers, in addition to managing changing client demands, in order to deliver this project.

Global Action Plan corporate website Global Action Plan corporate website – website for a well-known UK environmental charity, working with thousands of organisations across the UK to implement environmental and corporate social responsibility programmes. Done in Drupal 6 and PHP, an ongoing project since Oct 2012.

As the lead developer and client manager for this project, I restructured parts of the website and fixed bugs that impacted day-to-day operations. A large number of custom modules were created and modified as this website required custom sidebar, tagging and document upload functions that were not easily achievable with Drupal 6 contributed modules. Some of the changes were done by a distributed team in Singapore and Philippines, which I mentored and managed.

Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge Sky Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge – a project management system for Global Action Plan, a well-known UK environmental charity, working with schools across the UK to build awareness of environmental issues. Done in Drupal 6 and PHP, an ongoing project since Oct 2012.

As the lead developer and client manager for this project, I trained staff in the Philippines to help with bug fixes and also tackled challenging database corruption and usability issues. I audited the website from the point of view of improving security, backup and scaling capabilities, recommending follow-up actions. As with the other GAP website, there were numerous custom modules that needed to be fixed, maintained and enhanced, which we did to the satisfaction of the client.

Military Wives Choirs Military Wives Choirs – website and social media feed for a well-known military-related charity featured on the Classic Brit Awards show. Done in Drupal 7 and PHP, from Oct to Dec 2012.

As the lead developer for this project, I created jQuery scripts to implement a complex carousel using image thumbnails, and automatically-generated Google maps for location-based fields. This website also uses Zen Grids, Sass, HTML5 and CSS3.

JLDesign JLDesign – corporate website for an architectural firm in Singapore. Done in Drupal 7 and PHP, in 2012.

As the sole developer and project manager for this website, I worked with a designer and the client to test, design and implement this website in about 6 weeks. This website uses Zen Grids, Sass, HTML5 and CSS3.

Ferrara Ferrara – corporate website for a luxury sanitaryware distributor in Singapore. Done in Drupal 7 and PHP, in 2011.

As the sole developer and project manager for this website, I worked with a designer and the client to implement this website in 4 weeks. This website also uses Zen Grids, HTML5 and CSS3.
